Movember

1st - 30th November 2011

Movember began in Melbourne, Australia just over 10 years ago with a group of young men deciding to grow moustaches during the month of November while raising money for charity.

Since then it has grown into a global event. Here in Aotearoa the aim of Movember is to raise funds and promote awareness around men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.

If you’d like to get involved, or just want to know more about Movember, visit the Movember New Zealand website: nz.movember.com

White Ribbon Day

25th November 2011

Join the campaign against domestic violence and support White Ribbon Day. By wearing a white ribbon on the 25th of November you will be making a public statement that you do not condone violence against women.

There a number of initiatives happening this year both regionally and nationally including the White Ribbon Ride. This motorcycle ride will be conducted over 8 days from the North Island to the South Island and will be led by the Defence Force Motorcycle Club “The Patriots”.

By taking part in this ride you can make a difference by raising awareness and helping men to take action against violence towards women. Riders can participate in the whole eight days or may just join up for a few hours when the group pass through your town... It's up to you. Any support is appreciated!

Mana Tane Ora o Aotearoa are pleased to be supporting the White Ribbon Ride with our Chairperson Joe Puketapu riding the South Island leg of the ride. Also we’d like to give a big shout out to Te Hauora o Ngāti Rārua a Māori health provider from Blenheim who will be providing a vehicle and two support people from their Hauora Tane service for the South Island ride.

If you want to make further inquiries then please contact the ride co-ordinators:
